Issued in 1977 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the New Society, a socio-political era brought about by the rule of then President Ferdinand Marcos and the First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, whose busts are struck on the obverse side of the coin.


The coin is made out of 9000/10000 gold, and was minted under the the authorization of the Central Bank of the Philippines by the Franklin Mint, Franklin Center, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Its recorded mintage includes 100 uncirculated plus 3,832 proof, making it a hard to find coin amongst collectors, and its related history only adds to the piece’s intrigue.
